It had been an eye sore to watch the Blue Jays in the first few weeks of the season. Players were dropping like flies and others were struggling. Now, they are looking better as one hitter is finding his swing for the first time.
The manager spent the next two-and-a-half minutes outlining the statuses of the many ailing Jays and their paths back to Toronto. Some are just days away. The need for those reinforcements has been clear for a while.
In the first inning, Nathan Lukes hit a leadoff double off the Guardians’ Gavin Williams. He ran as fast as he could and covered second base, but he was visibly in discomfort. It appeared like he tweaked something in his lower body after sliding to second base. Manager John Schneider and a team trainer visited before removing him from the game.
