BYU football head coach Kalani Sitake sidestepped the rumors of him leaving for Penn State before the Big 12 title game.

Big 12 commissioner Brett Yormark, BYU football coach Kalani Sitake and Texas Tech's Joey McGuire made the case Monday for the league getting two berths in the CFP, regardless of Saturday's outcome.

The Big 12 championship game is a rematch of 11-1 teams Texas Tech and BYU. But likely the only way both of them get into the 12-team College Football Playoff is if the 11th-ranked Cougars beat the No.

"I'm all about the Big 12 championship and keeping our team focused on that. So I'm going to avoid all the distractions," Sitake said.

Sitake is finishing his 10th season in Provo, where he also played for the school’s all-time winningest coach, LaVell Edwards. Sitake grew up a BYU fan and is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which sponsors BYU.

What a regular season it was for BYU. The Cougars defied all expectations to finish 11-1, with the most recent victory coming Saturday against UCF on BYU's senior day. Kalani Sitake's squad will now head to Texas next week for the Big 12 championship game against Texas Tech.
