Pope Leo expressed deep sadness over the deaths of two individuals following an Israeli strike on Gaza's sole Catholic Church. He urged dialogue and a ceasefire in a telegram signed by Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

MANITOWOC – The Vatican in Rome has upheld a decision to close the St. Boniface parish in downtown Manitowoc. As part of an overall parish growth plan in 2019-2020, St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church leaders decided to consolidate services and permanently close St. Boniface. The last service there was held Easter Sunday 2013.

A slew of parishes were set to close or consolidate July 1, including Oakbrook Terrace’s Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, and St. Patrick Catholic Church near Manhattan. But they remain open and active,
