Delcy Rodriguez, who is next in the presidential line of succession, served as Nicolas Maduro's vice president since 2018.

Ms. Rodríguez, who is leading Venezuela after the U.S. captured Nicolás Maduro, established a reputation as a shrewd operator guiding the country’s economy.

Schumer said he received no clarity on how many troops could be committed to Venezuela or for how long the United States would be "running" the country. He also said the briefers could not provide a cost estimate, nor did they give clarity on whether other countries could be next.

The interim president of Venezuela was added to the UK sanction list back in 2020, and is still there, having been sworn in after Maduro's capture. She is one of many members of the Maduro regime designated by the UK.
