A wildfire burning in Rio Blanco County has scorched more than 14,000 acres, fire officials said Tuesday. The Lee fire, which has since absorbed the Grease fire that also started near Meeker, was last mapped at 14,426 acres, fire officials said.

Since it started on Friday afternoon, the Gifford Fire -- which is situated within the Los Padres National Forest in Solvang, California -- has burned 83,933 acres and has only reached 9% containment, prompting evacuation orders for those in the Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties, officials said.

The Gifford Fire in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties is now the largest California wildfire of the year.

The Gifford Fire in Southern California has consumed more than 82,000 acres and triggered mandatory evacuations across parts of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties, according to Cal Fire. The blaze remains only 7% contained,
