Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Thursday urged Google to reconsider its decision to rename the Gulf of Mexico the "Gulf of America" for U.S. users, adding the country could file a civil suit against the firm if necessary.

Mexico President Claudia Sheinbaum threatened a civil lawsuit against Google for renaming the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America on its maps service following an executive order Donald Trump signed after taking office.

After announcing it would be renaming the Gulf of Mexico as the Gulf of America, Google has officially changed on its Maps application.
