A powerful magnitude 8.7 earthquake struck off Russia's far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula on Wednesday, triggering a Pacific Ocean tsunami warning.

Videos of the Kamchatka, Russia, earthquake shaking buildings, the ground, homes, and even a hospital surgery room have gone viral. The 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck on July 29, triggering concerns about tsunamis in Hawaii and the west coast of the United States.

Kamchatka is a 1,250-kilometre-long peninsula located in the Far East of Russia. The Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Okhotsk serve as the eastern and western coastlines of the peninsula, respectively.
