An intelligence input from the CMO to the DGP, Security Advisor, Chief Secretary and Home Commissioner was “leaked” and widely circulated, spreading panic among residents of Manipur’s Meitei-majority valley.

The Manipur Security Adviser today said intelligence received from "different quarters" about infiltration by 900 Kuki militants from Myanmar could not be substantiated on the ground, and so "there is no basis currently to believe in any such input.

The Manipur government has retracted its prior claim that 900 Kuki militants were planning to attack villages in the Imphal valley around September 28. The authorities now assert that the likelihood of such an attack is minimal and unsubstantiated.
