The Lions can’t get the win on Thanksgiving with just a few too many empty drives and trouble stopping the Packers on late downs and drop another NFC North matchup. This is the first time Detroit has been swept by the Packers in a season series since 2020.

The Detroit Lions, led by quarterback Jared Goff, face the Green Bay Packers, led by quarterback Jordan Love, on Thursday, Nov. 27, 2025 (9/7/25) at Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.

The Packers started hot and kept the Lions at arm’s length the rest of the game. Detroit never led. The Packers made numerous plays on each side of the ball, just like they did in the season opener.

One Packers player who will play a key role in slowing down Detroit’s ground attack is All-Pro safety Xavier McKinney. Of all Green Bay defenders with at least 200-plus run-defense snaps, McKinney possesses the highest Pro Football Focus run-defense grade (78.7). He’s also graded out as the eighth-best safety in the NFL today (78.5).
