The Mohegan Tribe has reached a deal to sell the Connecticut Sun with an ownership group, led by Celtics minority governor Steve Pagliuca, that will relocate the team to the Boston as soon as 2027, according to a published report from the Boston Globe on Saturday.

On July 11, Gov. Dan McKee reportedly met with investors to discuss the possibility of bringing the team to Providence.

The league still must approve the sale, which will be for a record $325 million, and declared Saturday nine other cities which sought WNBA expansion franchises "have priority over Boston."
