The resignations, to take effect in the coming days, follow the departures of at least eight members of Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson's gubernatorial campaign resigned. Robinson has denied allegations made in a CNN report that said he made racist and lewd comments on a pornographic website decades ago.

North Carolina gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson will need to prove his innocence against allegations he made crude and racist remarks on an adult website if he wants to stay in the race, Republican National Committee co-chair Michael Whatley said Tuesday.

Mark Robinson, the Republican nominee for governor of North Carolina who described himself as a “black NAZI” on a porn website, also wrote a comment defending Irish actor Jonathan Rhys Meyers’ use of the N-word during a drunken outburst in 2010,
