As the UK indulges in a balmy weekend of barbecues and paddling pools, there may seem no end to the current third heatwave of the year. But forecasters are suggesting that the weather could soon shift to more cooler temperatures.

A woman has died after falling at a Scots beauty spot on one of the hottest days in Scotland for two years. Emergency crews raced to waterfalls at Campsie Glen in East Dunbartonshire, north of Glasgow, at around 12.35pm on Saturday, July 12. Police had been told the 63-year-old had fallen near a car park at the popular spot.

The full extent of the fire isn’t yet clear, but London Fire Brigade says it’s had more than 20 calls about the blaze and has sent 10 crews - including a "wildfire response vehicle" - to the scene near Capel Road in Manor Park.
