The United Family pharmacies will be offering the MMR vaccine to protect against measles to local Texas communities. Here is what we know.

As the measles outbreak in Texas keeps spreading, parents who previously chose not to vaccinate their children are now lining up to get their kids the MMR shots.

Angela Solis, a pharmacist at Martin's Wellness and Compounding Pharmacies, said measles is the most contagious respiratory illness. She said interest in the MMR vaccine has increased at the pharmacies since the Texas measles outbreak began.

As the measles outbreak in West Texas continues to grow, one Austin-area pharmacy said they are seeing an increase in people inquiring about the MMR vaccine. It comes as state health officials announced the first measles death in the country in over a decade.

A person who was hospitalized with measles has died from measles in West Texas, the first death in an outbreak that began late last month.
