After ending his college career at Xavier, Sykes went unselected in the 1995 NBA Draft, signing with Boston instead for his sole game in the NBA, leaving the league as a player afterward. During his time suiting up for the Celtics, Sykes wore only jersey No. 54 and put up 2.0 rebounds per game.
