CNN will host a California gubernatorial primary debate next month, a potential inflection point in a crowded campaign that Democrats are concerned could provide an opening for Republicans.

NBC4 and Telemundo 52 in Los Angeles will host a governor’s debate at 7 p.m. on May 6. The debate will also be broadcast on NBC and Telemundo’s Bay Area stations. Candidates must have at least 5% support in two recent polls to participate in the debate. The debate stage will be finalized on May 1.
