The Federal Emergency Management Agency is reducing the reimbursement city and rural fire departments get for responding to wildfires. Fire officials fear it will hamper fire response across the West.

New fire engines were recently purchased by the state of California for five rural fire districts in Mendocino County, Sen. Mike McGuire announced Friday in a virtual presentation.

Costing $750,000, the engine was funded by Measure V, a local sales tax dedicated to public safety and public works in Paradise through 2031. Gaddie expressed gratitude for the funding.
