For the first time 25 years, the province is looking to update its graduated licensing program, with changes expected in early 2026. That means the road test system used by the Insurance Corp. of B.C.

When the new rules kick in next year, novice drivers will automatically get their full licence after 18 to 24 months of a clean driving record.
