Leipzig have been keen to offload Silva for quite some time. Since joining the German Red Bulls on a €23m transfer from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer of 2021, Silva has seen his estimated market value plummet from a career high €45m to €4m today.

The attempt to sign André Silva is part of a hectic market for Real Oviedo, which has had to react quickly after Jović's refusal. Names like Dominic Calvert-Lewin were also considered, but the sports management sees the Portuguese international as a more realistic opportunity.
