The Trail Blazers appear to be on the upswing after making the playoffs for the first time in five years. They also have a new owner in Tom Dundon, who has drawn lots of scrutiny for the cost-cutting measures he implemented while Portland was in the postseason.
The Portland Trail Blazers could pursue Anthony Davis as a realistic solution to their lack of star power. They reportedly expressed interest in landing Davis at the deadline, but the Dallas Mavericks weren't interested in taking on Jerami Grant's massive contract as a salary filler.
As a result, things would not go as planned for the Mavericks. Ultimately, it led to Davis getting traded to the Washington Wizards, a franchise that does not share the best reputation in the league. Not an ideal situation for AD, who is still in his prime and still has goals to accomplish.
