The storm’s center was forecast pass north of Puerto Rico, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Hurricane Erin weakened to a Category 3 storm with maximum sustained winds of 125 mph while the outbands pounded the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico with gusty winds and heavy rains on Sunday.

Much of the shore from Florida to the Mid-Atlantic could see a high risk of rip currents as soon as Monday.
