KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Houston Astros reliever Forrest Whitley was placed on the 15-day injured list with a left knee sprain Sunday, the latest injury setback for the right-hander. The Astros activated reliever Kaleb Ort from the IL to replace Whitley in the bullpen ahead of their series finale against the Royals at Kauffman Stadium.

The Astros No. 17 overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft and No. 1 prospect from 2018-'21, Whitley has dealt with multiple injuries including Tommy John surgery and a 50-game PED suspension during his 10-years with the organization. The former starter began exclusively working out of the bullpen in the minors last season, with impressive results.

The Astros activated right-hander Kaleb Ort from the 15-day injured list today, and placed righty Forrest Whitley on the 15-day IL (retroactive to April 24) in the corresponding move. Ort didn’t see any action in today’s 7-3 win over the Royals,
