The post office worker from Palm Harbor was returning from a day off at the beach. He was one of 44 people on the Clearwater Ferry when a boat captained by Jeff Knight slammed into them.

CLEARWATER, Fla. (WWSB) - Jeff Knight, the man who was operating the boat that crashed into the Clearwater Ferry Sunday night, has a checkered history with law enforcement, court records show.

Jeff Knight passed sobriety tests Sunday after being caught by police following the deadly crash in Clearwater, Florida.

During this week's NFL draft, Demetrius Knight Jr. was seen sporting a Jeff Burton-inspired t-shirt as he got the call to be a part of the Cincinnati Bengals team.

Knight was cooperating with authorities, and a breathalyzer test showed no alcohol impairment, investigators said.
