Many thought as recently as this past weekend that Johnson could soon become the next HC of the Raiders in part because Johnson was reportedly interested in working under Raiders minority owner Tom Brady.
However, according to ProFootballTalk guru Mike Florio, that choosiness may lead Johnson to remain with the Lions. "Not every guy wants to be the guy at the front of the room. I've heard Ben Johnson relishes his role as mad scientist coming up with all these trick plays, running the offense," Florio said on The Dan Patrick Show Friday afternoon.
"Most recently, we’ve caught wind of a rumor that the Raiders have made a 'massive' contract offer to Johnson," Florio wrote. "While it’s premature for offers to officially be made, given that they’ve yet to conduct a face-to-face interview with Johnson, the talk is out there that a big number is unofficially out there."
