The Oklahoma City Thunder’s preparation stood out to their first-round opponent in a unique way. Phoenix Suns center Oso Ighodaro said Oklahoma City’s defense consistently anticipated plays during the series, often calling them out before they developed.
“Johnson was one of my favorite players in college basketball. He was one of the most efficient players in the country,” wrote Sam Vecenie of The Athletic, who had the Thunder taking Johnson at 17 with a pick from the Philadelphia 76ers. “…He’s tremendous as a post defender, flying around in help and showcasing switchability on the perimeter.”
The Thunder were the only team to sweep in the first round as most of the league is dealing with long opening series.
