The King Fire ignited around 70 miles northwest of Los Angeles on Thursday morning and quickly grew to nearly 500 acres.
The Canyon Fire in Southern California has spread to more than 5,300 acres and was 25% contained, a day after igniting outside of Piru, CA.
The California Highway Patrol issued a SigAlert shutting down all lanes, including truck lanes, just north of Balboa Boulevard in Sylmar. It was not immediately clear what caused the fire or whether anyone was injured in the blaze. Because of the electric car batteries, fire crews appeared to have a hard time putting down the flames.
