ESPN’s Peter Schrager had McCoy being taken by the Dolphins at No. 30 in his final mock draft, writing that the “concerns around McCoy’s knee are real,” but feels he can be a difference-maker. USA Today’s draft analyst Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz ranked him as the No. 11 player in the class.
Beyond McCoy, LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier also fell far, to the Kansas City Chiefs at 249 in the seventh round. Miami cornerback Keionte Scott went 116th to Tampa Bay and Penn State edge rusher Dani Dennis-Sutton went 120th to Green Bay. Finally, the honor of Mr. Irrelevant went to Buffalo’s Red Murdock.
The NFL draft fall for Jermod McCoy should end with a Chargers team that has many picks and a big need.
