Under the new approach, Germany could intercept, board and potentially immobilize ships if suspicious activity is detected.
Russia will suspend shipments of Kazakh oil to Germany via the Druzhba pipeline starting May 1, citing technical capacity limits. The move affects about 17% of crude supply to the PCK Schwedt refinery, a key fuel source for Berlin and Brandenburg.
