Post office employee Brajawn Upshaw had to check his nerves at the door when he auditions for Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Carrie Underwood on this Sunday’s American Idol.

The U.S. Postal Service said it expects to cut 10,000 employees. USPS offered voluntary early retirement to those employees.

A planned reduction of 10,000 workers stoked fears that the US Postal Service is on a path toward privatization.

Democratic U.S. Rep. Gerald Connolly of Virginia said turning over the Postal Service to DOGE would result in it being undermined and privatized.
