On December 28, 2024, a skier triggered an avalanche in a closed section of the resort at Steamboat . The slide occurred in Christmas Tree Bowl, one of Steamboat's expert terrain areas accessed by a short hike from Morningside lift. The skier reported the slide to Steamboat ski patrol. See below.
