GOP Senator Rand Paul's report on wasteful spending prompted a repost from Musk, who is spinning up an anti-wase project for Donald Trump.

Trump has been at odds with GOP Rep. Thomas Massie and is hoping to drive him out of office. Elon Musk said in July that he planned to donate to Massie — and Massie thanked him for it. But Massie's campaign has yet to disclose any contribution from Musk.

He'll have to hit a series of market cap and operational milestones along the way if he wants his shares, and there's no guarantee that will happen.

Elon Musk's political views align more with Republicans now, but he's donated to lawmakers from both parties going back to the early 2000s.
