CONFLICT ENTERS FOURTH DAY: Israel and Iran have begun a new round of attacks, as the conflict between the two heavily armed rivals enters its fourth day.

Dozens of others were injured overnight across Israel, the authorities said. Israel was striking military sites in Iran and the four-day-old conflict showed no sign of slowing.

A Democratic senator introduced legislation to prevent President Donald Trump from using military force against Iran without Congress's authorization.

Trump said Sunday he remained optimistic about Israel and Iran reaching a deal, but added "sometimes they have to fight it out."

The fighting, which began on Friday with a surprise Israeli attack on Iran, has been some of the fiercest and most prolonged in the decades-long enmity between Israel and Iran, raising fears of a wider war that could draw in the United States and other powers.

U.S. stock futures are higher even as fighting between Israel and Iran spiked oil prices. Futures linked to the blue-chip Dow rose 0.36%, while broad S&P 500 futures added 0.42% and tech-heavy Nasdaq futures gained 0.49%.

"The full strength and might of the U.S. Armed Forces will come down on you at levels never seen before," Trump warned.
