R-rated movies and cartoons sound like an odd match, but in fact many standout animated shows have been based on beloved adult-oriented films and franchises.

A holiday toy and gift card drive launched this week, collecting donations for local families through Dec. 18 at the Cleveland County Democratic Party’s office, 300 W. Gray St.
