Picking up from Dead Reckoning Part One, Cruise’s Ethan Hunt now holds the key to confronting the formidable AI known as the Entity, his most perilous adversary yet. The Cannes Film Festival paid tribute to the one of cinema’s greats on Wednesday with the world premiere of a new documentary about David Lynch, who passed away in January. The late director’s son Riley Lynch was in attendance at the screening of “Welcome to Lynchland,” which he helped introduce with a few words on stage at the Palais.

Quentin Tarantino and his wife, Daniella Pick, arrived on the red carpet for the 2025 Cannes Film Festival's opening night on Tuesday, May 13. Tarantino is a guest of honor at this year's festival. The director and Pick first met in 2009 and married in 2018.

“Tarak has been a passionate supporter and champion of independent films,” said Variety’s Co-Editor-in-Chief Ramin Setoodeh. “He is truly deserving of this honor and Variety looks forward to toasting him in Cannes. Ammar will be honored by Variety on May 15 at 4pm at the Majestic Hotel, Salon Croisette.
