The Indian cricket board reintroduced the uncapped player rule which enables a team to retain an Indian player who has not played international cricket in the last five calendar years for a reported sum of Rs 4 crore.

The new rule also states that every team will get a chance to retain a maximum of six players that can have five capped players and two uncapped players.
