Manchester United remain in the running to sign Benjamin Sesko as RB Leipzig have rejected Newcastle United’s €80 million (£69.8m) bid for the striker, according to reports. United and Newcastle are both competing to sign the 22-year-old before the end of the summer transfer window and negotiations have intensified this week.

The biggest talking point of the summer continues to be Alexander Isak, with his United future still up in the air as his team-mates continue their Far East jaunt. The Swede has missed the club's Asia jaunt as Liverpool linger over a potential swoop his for signature.

Sesko had been monitored by Arsenal before the north London side opted to pursue a move for Isak’s compatriot Viktor Gyokeres, who they signed last month in a deal worth €63.5million (£54.8m; $74.2m) plus €10m.
