Weeks after Bryan Kohberger pleaded guilty to the brutal murders of four University of Idaho students, Kaylee Goncalves’ parents are sharing what the coroner told them about the heartbreaking details of how their daughter died.

Prosecutors say they wanted to spare the families of four University of Idaho students killed in November 2022 by agreeing to a plea deal that would see the confessed killer avoid a possible death sentence.

Steve Goncalves, whose daughter, Kaylee, was among four University of Idaho students fatally stabbed in November 2022, says the coroner told him she had “damage” around her mouth — suggesting killer Bryan Kohberger pressed on her mouth as he murdered her,

Kohberger seemed particularly interested in three killers: Ted Bundy, the BTK Killer and Elliot Rodger. Through them, he identified with a narrative arc that "rejection moves to resentment moves to obsession moves to control moves to violence moves to infamy," Toles said.

Bryan Kohberger, now 30, targeted Kaylee Goncalves, 21, when he broke into an Idaho home and murdered four college students in 2022, her mother said in a Facebook post on Thursday, July 3.

Steve Goncalves is one of many family members of the four victims who have spoken out about the news that Bryan Kohberger will evade the death penalty in the apparent deal.
