Jan 16, 2023 · It is located in the center of the city which is the oldest market of Faisalabad with eight bazaars, that were planned on the design of Union Jack (British Flag) approved by Sir James Broadwood Lyall in 1880 (Governor of Punjab at that time).

Faisalabad is the second most populous district in Punjab with a population of 7.87 million. Primarily an agri-industrial district, Faisalabad contributes approximately $5billion to the national GDP through its textile exports.

The Faisalabad district came into existence in 1904 named as Lyallpur back then which was a Tehsil of Jhang district earlier. During the later part of the 19th century, the Government of India initiated a great system of artificial irrigation through construction of canals.

Lyallpur Museum is a heritage museum in Faisalabad, Pakistan (the old and original name for the city of Faisalabad is Lyallpur). It was established in 2011 by then Chief Minister of Punjab. It has 10 galleries which show the ancient and modern history and culture of Lyallpur / Faisalabad:
