The eastern area of Tottori is the home of the traditional performance art of Kirin Dance. Wearing a sacred Kirin beast mask, the dancers slowly rotate the Kirin’s head as if it where crawling along the ground, and then twist and stretch it upwards🙌 During festivals, there is also a custom of having the Kirin bite people on the head which is said to make children healthy and wise and bring adults a year free of illness and calamity😊 | Visit Tottori, Japan
