The Reichstag, built at the end of the 19th century, is one of Berlin's great landmarks. The Imperial Diet of the German Empire once convened here, later the parliament of the Weimar Republic. In 1933, the building was badly damaged by fire, with nothing rebuilt until the 1960s. Since 1999, it has been the seat of the German Bundestag.
